Guests may make reservations by phone at 802-822-5533, by email at info@QuimbyCountry.com,  through our online reservation system or in person at the Quimby Lodge. No booking at Quimby’s is confirmed until your initial deposit is received and you receive a confirmation via email from Quimby’s.”  and “Cottage Assignments: At the time of reservation, requests will be accepted for specific cottages. However, Quimby Country reserves the right to change cottage assignments at any time prior to arrival, without notice, in order to best accommodate all of our guests.

Quimby Country is just a few miles from the Canadian border. If you plan to visit the duty-free store in Stanhope or explore the quaint villages of the Eastern Townships, be sure to bring your passport.

The cell phone service as you approach Quimby Country goes through Canadian wireless companies. You may want to subscribe to your wireless provider’s plan for calls that go through Canada to avoid high roaming charges. Cell phone signals are not available in Quimby Country itself, but we do have high-speed wireless Internet service and complimentary long distance telephone service in the Lodge.

We encourage casual dress at Quimby Country, though most guests wear something a little dressier for our Sunday evening cocktail party, e.g., dresses, skirts, or pantsuits for women and collared shirts and long pants for men.

Evenings get cold in the Northeast Kingdom, no matter what the season, so we suggest you bring sweaters, a fleece, and a raincoat, just in case.

Depending on the activities in the spring, summer or fall, we suggest that you add the following to your packing list:

  • Waterproof hiking boots and warm socks
  • Athletic shoes
  • Windbreaker and rain jacket
  • Swimsuits, sunglasses, hat, and sunscreen
  • Daypack
  • Tennis rackets and balls

Many guests bring their own wine, beer, and other beverages.  Every cottage has a small refrigerator and ice is brought to every cottage on request.

Please bring personal toiletries such as shampoo, toothpaste, etc. If you forget something, you can purchase what you need from a small supply in our gift shop or a larger selection from Solomon’s in West Stewartstown, about half an hour from Quimby’s just across the bridge over the Connecticut River.

We can also loan you an iron or a hair dryer if you need one. And our laundry can wash your clothes by the end of the day if you drop them off in the morning.  Laundry bags are in every cottage bathroom.  Quimby Country also provides beach towels.

The Lodge library is well-stocked with a wide variety of books, but many guests bring a favorite book to read in the evenings after group activities.

A passport is required to enter Canada. Quimby’s is just three miles from US/Canadian border. Quebec has many entertaining activities.

Cottage Housekeeping is provided in all cabins daily. Nine cottages have full kitchens, including cookware, stove, refrigerator, coffee maker, and flatware. Each cottage has a wood-burning stove.

We do allow obedient and well behaved pets (and guests). Guests will be required to control and clean-up after their pets. A damage fee may be assessed if any occurs. Please contact the office with any special needs or requirements.

The rate you pay allows us to compensate employees with the understanding that gratuities are not expected. However, guests may reward individual employees for exceptional service.

PEAK SEASON DEPOSIT POLICY

Advance reservations require a 50% deposit when made. The balance of payment for your stay is due in full two weeks before arrival.

SPRING AND FALL DEPOSIT POLICY

A deposit of 50% for all guests under the same reservation is required for your deposit. The balance is due two weeks prior to arrival. Deposits are due within 14 days of reserving your cottage. If you cancel your reservation 30 days or more prior to your scheduled arrival, the deposit will be refunded.

For cancellations within 30 days of scheduled arrival, the deposit is nonrefundable. You are not entitled to a refund for an early departure or late arrival.

Quimby Country Lodge and Cottages is located in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, a remote and beautiful part of the state. Due to our small size, short season, and location, cancellations can have a significant impact on us and we ask that you please read our reservation, cancellation and pricing policy. We strongly encourage you to purchase travel insurance to protect yourself in the event you need to cancel or modify your travel and vacation plans due to unforeseen circumstances.

PEAK SEASON

Reservations during Peak Summer Season run from Saturday to Saturday and rates are set based upon full-week stays for at least two guests in the cottage. In Peak Summer Season, we can only accept reservations for less than five nights when made 60 days or less before the scheduled arrival date. Stays of less than a full week will be charged at a daily rate. Single occupants of cottages during Peak Summer Season will also be charged at a daily rate.

SPRING, LATE SUMMER and FALL FOLIAGE SEASON

Two night reservations are required.

The office is open during the season from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM. Staff will always be on location if any needs shall arise.

Cancellation Policy – Summer Season2017-04-02T19:24:17-04:00

If you cancel your reservation 60 days or more prior to your scheduled arrival, your payment will be refunded except for a $250 cancellation fee per cottage.

If you cancel your reservation within 60 days of your scheduled arrival, your payment will be forfeited unless Quimby’s is able to rebook your cottage. In that event, your payment will be refunded less a $250 service charge per cottage.

However, in any case, if you choose to apply your payment to the following season, your entire payment will be credited to your account with no service charge. You may only carry over your payment for one year.
