Attractions and Events

You probably drove a while to get here so the idea of getting back in your car isn’t exactly an attractive proposition. But if the yen to see more of the area hits you, here are some nearby places to go and things to do.

The Northeast Kingdom is not only rugged and beautiful, it’s also interesting in almost every way – geologically, historically, culturally, economically, geographically, and gastronomically. For example, did you know that at Quimby Country, you are almost precisely halfway between the North Pole and the equator?  Averill, VT, sits at the latitude of 44.9981018.  You can see a marker for the 45th parallel only a few miles away on Rt. 3 in New Hampshire.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to ride an All-Terrain Vehicle on the logging trails of the Great North Woods?  Navigate a canoe or raft through whitewater rapids?  Go for a horseback ride through boreal forest?  Learn how to turn an old log into a beautiful wooden bowl? Eat a French-Canadian delicacy called poutine? See how maple syrup makes it from tree to bottle?  Experience 1830s farm life?  Find your way through the largest corn maze in New England?  Visit a puppet museum? Explore a copper mine deep underground?

Consult the directories below to find these and more adventures, plus lots of entertaining and informative events. None more than 90 minutes away; most much closer.
